New Exhibition explores a sustained art studio practice's profound influence and therapeutic effects.
Miami, FL — June 1, 2024 – Artist and Educator Ignacio Font will present a solo exhibition at the FIU Green Library, showcasing a comprehensive collection of works created exclusively in his studio at collaboARTive over the past eight years.
Self Care: Mineral Spirits, Elixirs, & Other Home Remedies will feature large format oil paintings, mixed media works on paper, smaller paintings, and a photograph installation. The opening event will occur on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 3 PM to 5 PM, with an artist lecture scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.
This solo exhibition aims to illustrate a studio environment's profound influence on an artist’s practice and the therapeutic effects of a sustained artistic process on the artist's well-being. Ignacio Font’s evocative emotional landscapes have been meticulously developed over his 40-year career through the digging and scratching of life experiences. The artist’s work emerges as a soothing cure in the painting process through self-reflection and contemplation.
